I have been suffering from diabetes since 2005. How long I had not seen of her before she was diagnosed is difficult to estimate. It could have taken several years.
Even today, a friend reminds me of meetings at his home in 2003. We sat in several people in his kitchen, talking.
At one point someone pointed out: See, the colleague fell asleep. Did he drink too much?
Another replied, No, he only drank two beers. It’s impossible for him to be drunk.
And that’s what it looked like. I worked in logistics. Part of my working day was spent in the warehouse. Some days I was so tired that I would hole up somewhere in a corner of the warehouse and take a nap. I was accompanied by an increased thirst. Work and home were separated by a distance of seven kilometers. Halfway through, I would enter a store and buy a 1.5-liter orangeade, which I would drink in a stranglehold. I had no idea that I couldn’t use sugar in this form.
This is what my days looked like. Work – at work nap breaks, home – after work sleep. Constant fatigue and a terrible mood.
Until I started getting open sores on my body and made an appointment to see a dermatologist. About that soon.
