Diabetes and dry mouth

Spanish researchers conducted the study on a group of 168 patients. The aim of the study was to find the cause of dry mouth and saliva deficit in diabetics of both types. Fifty-four percent of women and 46 percent of men participated in the survey. These were people under the age of 73.

The study found an undeniable link between diabetes and dry mouth.
However, it was not the diabetes drugs that caused the unpleasantness. The study concluded that it was medications for other conditions, e.g.: for hypertension and neurological diseases, that may have caused the dry mouth and saliva deficiency.
