According to the current regulations of the Ministry of Health (Law of April 12, 2019), children with chronic diseases can only be assisted by a health care worker with the prior written consent of their parents to administer medication.
Due to the situation in Polish education, a nurse or hygienist works part-time. This is due to the fact that their main place of employment is not a school.
The teacher follows the educational law and performs the tasks assigned to him in accordance with the basic functions of the school: teaching, education and care, but he is not responsible for health care and cannot administer medication to the child. He does not assume such responsibility because human health and life are at stake.
This is a difficult situation for both children , teachers and parents of children with diabetes.
