Diabetes and alcohol or diabetic’s problems

It’s been five years since I haven’t used alcohol, any alcohol. I used to like beer. It happened that more than one private party I had to rehab the next day.

In 2019, I blacked out for half an hour. Neighbors called the ambulance when they found me lying unconscious in front of the estate gate.
I have half an hour of amnesia. I woke up. An ambulance was standing, a paramedic was kneeling over me. I had a venflon inserted. I was probably given glucagon intravenously.
By the time I sat in the ambulance and ate sandwiches brought by neighbors, my blood glucose level was 25 mg/dl.

Despite my blood sugar being so low, I felt like I was screwed. My mouth wouldn’t shut. I think diabetics know what I’m talking about.
The doctors did not let me go home. They took me to the ED, hooked me up to a glucose drip. It hit 2 a.m. in the morning. The doctor on duty said that he was letting me go home with a soul on his shoulder. I insisted that I wanted to go back to my apartment, and eventually the doctor agreed.

He said he would write me a leave of absence from work for a week to rest and recover. But due to the fact that I was paid my salary only when I was present at work I refused.
At the hospital gate I ordered a cab and went home. The next day I felt shattered. It was on that day that I decided to give up alcoholic stimulants.

For a while I bought 0.0% beer. Once upon a time I also gave that up. In a period of three months I lost 8 kilograms without the JOJO effect.

Such an adventure happened to me. Even a small amount of alcohol can put a diabetic at risk.

I am currently walking and cycling. You could call it marching training. The diabetologist asked me to have a Doppler ultrasound of my lower extremities because she sensed a weak pulse in my fingers.

I performed the test at the clinic on Romera Street in Warsaw. With the result, I ran to a general surgeon. The diagnosis was as follows: slight atherosclerosis above the knee near the thighs. On the other hand, weakly throbbing fingers are the result of the physique. Here there is no question of negligence.

Mr. Surgeon told me to walk a lot. If there is no bus going then walk one stop. I am supposed to do my shopping at the nearby store without a car. I have it a little easier because I walk my dog.

So my recommendations are as follows:

Null alcohol and cigarettes.
Lots of exercise, primarily walking. On a bicycle, other parts of the muscles work. Walking is the optimal solution.

I wish you much health.

M.
