Celiac disease as a concomitant of diabetes

Does celiac disease? What diagnosis?

Today I once again visited the Institute of Diabetology in Warsaw. I went for a consultation with Professor Ewa Pankowska.
And that’s because she had me tested for celiac disease. I was sick as a child. I’ve been feeling strange lately. There are days when I don’t even want to move my little toe, and I can’t afford not to do anything. I have to fight then.
The blood test came back positive. Eight times the norm. So, however. From now on, a diet without gluten (wheat, rye) grains.

What does celiac disease consist of?

In the digestive tract, we have intestinal villi. It is they, moving in a worm-like motion, that transport the meal to the stomach while capturing the nutritional value. It is through them that food enters the cells nourishing them.
When one has celiac disease food containing gluten touching the villi causes inflammation in them. And this inflammatory infiltration causes atrophy of villi, they stop functioning properly and as a result the surface area of food absorption is significantly reduced . They are simply destroyed.
Because of this, the body begins to lack vitamins and minerals, among others: Vit. B12, iron or zinc from food.

Celiac Disease. What’s next?

I have no choice but to switch to a gluten-free diet. Unfortunately, before me there are still unpleasant tests – endoscopy of the upper gastrointestinal tract – stomach and duodenum. I became the happy owner of a dog. As a result, I do a lot of walking. And this is very important, the movement.

Below I am sending the contact to the Institute of Diabetology located on Raclawicka Street in Warsaw.
